21 August 2019 - Eastbourne local history group take tour of the College

Members of the Eastbourne Local History Society were guests of the College archives today when they visited the College for a tour of the campus.

Starting with the Project 150 development, the group were shown around the Winn Building, including the sports hall, gym, dance studio, swimming pool and dining hall. They also had a chance to see the view over Devonshire Park from the terrace adjacent to the staff room, before visiting the Nugee Building, where they saw the atrium which links the new with the old at the back of Big School.

A historical part of the tour followed with a visit to the Chapel, where College archivist Paul Jordan talked about the history of the stained glass windows, many of which were designed by Mary Lowndes in the early part of the 20th century. Then the group looked at the war memorials dedicated to those Old Eastbournians killed in the two world wars and a number of other conflicts, and saw Larkfield, the oldest building on the site, before finishing outside Big School.

1 August 2019 - Book now for Old Eastbournian reunion day

The 2019 Old Eastbournian reunion is being held on Saturday 28 September and we are taking bookings now.

Following the success of last year's 150th anniversary reunion (pictured), which saw OEs from all generations come together, this year we are inviting OEs from two years in each decade from the 1940s onwards.

So if the year you left the College ended in an 8 or a 9 then you are part of this year's cohort.

All OEs who were (or would have been) in the Upper Sixth in 1948, 1949, 1958, 1959, 1968, 1969, 1978, 1979, 1988, 1989, 1998, 1999, 2008 or 2009 are welcome, together with husbands, wives or partners. Members of staff from these eras are also invited to join us. There is no charge for any part of the day and you can come to as many or as few of the day's events as you wish. These include:

Lunch ~ Guided tour of the College ~ 1st and 2nd XV rugby on College Field ~ Tea ~ Visits to former houses
Evensong in Chapel ~ Evening drinks reception ~ Reunion dinner

The reunion is always so much better if you can encourage your old school friends to make up a table, so please do pass on details of the reunion to those with whom you are still in touch.

A provisional timetable and more details of how to book are on the reunion section of the events page.
