OE Fives is thriving under the expert management of OE James Holman-Dine and former member of staff Spencer Beal (pictured). The team is in perfect condition.
The nail-biting match against a top-notch Old Tonbridgian team will start at 7:30pm, followed by the Bibendum where a table has been booked for 9.00pm (earlier for spectators it they wish).
Spectators are hugely encouraged. Club members not involved in the match and their families are planning to attend.
There is no need to book or tell us in advance. Just come and join us for what will be the sports event of the season.
A message from Spencer Beal:
Great news! The Fives courts on Blackwater Road have been significantly upgraded over the summer vacation with new roofing installed plus some cosmetic repainting. The courts now look in great shape and the new roofing has successfully resisted all the bad weather thrown at us over the past months so it looks as though cancellations due to leaking roofs are a thing of the past. Thank you to the College for continuing to invest in this great sport.
And, recently, on OA Day, St. Andrew's Prep marked the glass-back-wall upgrade of its one court by naming it after one of the school's former headmasters Gareth Jones who was responsible for bringing the court back to life after decades of dormant use as a storage facility. The occasion was marked with a game showcasing the talents of three Old Androvians / Eastbournians: Andy Pringle (St AP 1976-81; R 1981-86), current member of College staff Simon Beal (St AP 1987-93; C 1993-98), James Holman-Dine (St AP 2010-15; (C and R 2014-19).
The Fives Club continues to play every Tuesday evening (8.00pm) throughout the year. All-comers welcome and you can be sure the session won't be cancelled because of the weather!
