15 February 2014 – OE university dinner at Cambridge

OEs at Cambridge University met for dinner on Saturday 15 February, in the latest of our university get-togethers for former pupils.

These university events are becoming increasingly popular and more are planned.

If you would like to suggest a venue for a future university gathering, please contact Lulu Brown at vlbrown@eastbourne-college.co.uk.

8 February 2014 – The annual sports dinner

The 2014 annual sports dinner celebrated all College sport and helped raise funds for our upcoming rugby tour to South Africa. The dress theme was African Safari, which resulted in a variety of colourful and inventive costumes on the night.

The special guest was Nigel Redman, former England and Lions rugby player, who was part of the legendary 1997 South Africa tour. He is pictured here handing over one of the items auctioned during the evening, a signed Bath Rugby shirt, to Jacob Perrett (Reeves, Year 11).

Proceeds from the dinner go towards sponsoring the College sports development tours, and 10% of ticket sales go to Children on the Edge (COTE), a non-profit charitable organisation dedicated to working on behalf of marginalised and vulnerable children who are often victims of war.

More photos from the evening are in our members area, which is available only to those who have registered on the website.

The ever-popular annual quiz night and dinner was held on Saturday 1 February in the Social Common Room.

Over 50 guests had their general (and not-so-general) knowledge challenged by quizmaster John Thornley, assisted by Lulu Brown. Unfortunately the prize for the winning team had not improved since last year; it's still a Mars bar each.

But it's not the winning, it's the taking part...
