The Peter Bibby Award

All proceeds of the annual Golf Challenge go to the Peter Bibby Award. This was set up by Peter's family, friends and sporting colleagues to honour and celebrate his life. The aim is to give a local youngster, who has a clear aptitude and passion for cricket, the chance of an education at the College by providing bursary funding.

If you would like to donate to the award please contact Christine Todd at ct@eastbourne-college.co.uk or on 01323 452316. You can also donate online via Virgin Money Giving.

The first recipient of the award was Harry Finch (Craig 2011–13), who was awarded a junior professional contract with Sussex County Cricket Club for the 2013 season, following his graduation through the club's academy setup. He is pictured here, second left, with Roger Myall, Mirren Mace and David Stewart.

Peter Bibby’s daughter, Mirren Mace, commented on Harry joining the professional team: ‘This is fantastic news. I feel that together we have made a difference to someone's life and that is a very special thing. Many congratulations to Harry – he has clearly taken this opportunity and made the very best of every moment’.

The second recipient of the award, in 2014, was Ben Twine (left), a sixth form pupil at the College in Craig House. It was fitting that in the 2014 Golf Challenge, Ben was one of the winning team, along with his brothers David and Stuart and his father Steven. Team Twine also played in the 2015 Golf Challenge.

The latest pupil to receive the award is Joe Pocklington (right), who joined Craig House in Year 9 in September 2014. He also played at the 2015 Golf Challenge.
