Come and join the College Choir as they sing Evensong in the 'journalists' church', so-called because of its centuries-old connection with the British press and media industry.
The church was designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1672 after the Great Fire of London destroyed the previous medieval structure. Its famous 226-foot tiered steeple is the second-tallest of Wren's spires (surpassed only by St Paul's Cathedral) and is said to have inspired the design of the traditional multi-tiered wedding cake. The church was nearly gutted by German incendiary bombs during the London Blitz in 1940, leaving only the outer walls and spire intact. It was meticulously rebuilt in the neo-Baroque style and reconsecrated in 1957.
Evensong will last about an hour after which all are invited to gather in a local hostelry yet to be decided.
It's helpful to know who will be attending Evensong and who will meet afterwards.
