Global Horizons Business Breakfasts at Eastbourne College
Hosted by the Eastbournian Society
Our September event is the first in our second series of high-impact networking breakfasts designed for senior leaders and decision-makers across Eastbourne's business and professional community. Held in the Dining Hall of Eastbourne College, these events offer a unique opportunity to share best practice, exchange updates and strengthen connections between local businesses and the College's wider network, including parents of pupils at Eastbourne College and St Andrew's Prep.
Each breakfast features a high-calibre guest speaker, offering insights into leadership, innovation and the evolving business landscape. Our speaker for this breakfast is our Member of Parliament for Eastbourne and the Party President for the Liberal Democrats, Josh Babarinde OBE MP.
Josh was born and grew up in Eastbourne.
After university, he moved to the East End of London, where he built an award-winning social enterprise (Cracked It) that worked to support young people out of crime and gangs, helping them find employment and build brighter futures.
In recognition of his work, Josh was honoured with a Shackleton Award, a Churchill Fellowship, Forbes 30 Under 30 and an OBE in The Queen’s 2020 Birthday Honours List for services to criminal justice, social enterprise, and the economy.
Shortly after, he made the bold decision to step back from his role, return to Eastbourne, and stand for MP - driven by a deep commitment to the town that shaped him.
After four years of tireless campaigning, Josh was elected as Eastbourne’s Member of Parliament, securing over 52% of the vote.
Since becoming MP, Josh has campaigned on a range of critical issues: successfully pushing Ministers to strengthen domestic abuse law within his first year in Parliament; being at the forefront of efforts to protect Eastbourne District General Hospital and secure its future; as well as holding water companies to account over appalling sewage dumping and water outages.
At the beginning of this year, Josh became President of the Liberal Democrats.
