Here were the underpinnings of London’s power of 200 years ago. Two iconic railway termini rub shoulders once backed by a mighty gas works, the Granary Building, coal drops, a myriad of rail-marshalling yards and, at its heart, the Regent’s Canal. Brilliantly recreated as a city square with fountains, an emerging shopping street, a university and much more, come and see how history is powering the future. But also dive back 150 years to the site of the shanty town where the scavengers lived who picked over the dust heaps of King’s Cross to make a living and hear about the family who owned that land and nearly brought the canal company to its knees. We finish by the old lock-keeper’s cottage at Camden, almost unnoticed in the bustle of today’s market
