The performance of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius on Sunday 26 April received prolonged applause by some 350 audience members.
Among the 120 singers were the ES Chorus comprising many of the Eastbournian Society community who were also well represented in the orchestra and audience.
As the reviewer remarked: 'From the opening strains, played expertly by the 60-strong Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra, the blending of the 120 voices from the choirs of the ES Chorus, Hailsham Choral and Noteworthy Voices proved more than capable of producing a fine offering of this work, which was fully appreciated by the large audience, who filled the church to full capacity.’
