Unaccustomed as I am to attending many Old Eastbournian events, I do actually read the regular ES emails to see what’s going on! Development Director Emma Garrett’s newsletter of early February included a small announcement: 'Join us in Oxford for an evening drink with fellow Oxfordshire-based ES members on 24 February. Find out more.'

I immediately signed up as the thought of a mini reunion on my doorstep was too good to miss! Of course, I was intrigued to find out how many OEs might be living in Oxford and surrounding areas?

The venue was the well-known King’s Arms pub in central Oxford, timing 6.00-8.00pm. It was fairly busy as expected, however Emma and Jonathan had found space in the pub to fly the Eastbourne flag and were great hosts welcoming the small group of attendees. Most hadn’t met before, so the time was spent reminiscing about College life and what has happened since then!

It was a great evening, and consequently we have agreed to plan another get-together in the summer, where hopefully other Oxfordshire OE alumni can come along too. Emma’s aim is that other similar regional meetings will take place around the country.
