A fascinating adventure of derring-do

On Wednesday 3 May some 40 people turned out to hear this fascinating story from Peter Fellows of how his thirst for adventure was quenched by his trip to the Arctic, and how it became so much more. Going to Svalbard, a Norwegian archipelago lying about midway between the northern coast of Norway and the North Pole took was a spur-of-the moment decision. Among many other highlight was his encounter with an Arctic Fox. A fascinating adventure of derring-do fed Peter’s love of the outdoors.

Peter, spurred on by a lifetime of Eastbourne College education, read biomedical sciences at the University of Southampton. He then taught at Bancroft's School in Essex for four years before returning to the College to join the Biology Department. He has been in involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award for 20 years. As well as mountain biking and swimming, Peter has recently started the Leadership, Awards and Personal Development (LAPD) programme for sixth form pupils.

The talk brought together all elements of the Eastbournian Society including current and former pupils and staff from both the College and St Andrew’s Prep, as well as other friends and supporters.

The evening started with a glass of fizz to celebrate the Coronation a few days later, and, of course, some posh nibbles.
