The latest OE Golf Society newsletter has recently been sent out to members:
2023 OEGS fixtures and events
Our programme of fixtures and events for this year is now underway and I know that one or two match managers are still looking for a few more players, in particular the fixtures coming up over the next few weeks against the College on 18 May and the Common Room on 4 June, both at the Royal Eastbourne GC.
This year we have introduced another new event, the OEGS Scratch Cup, for members with a maximum handicap of 10, which is being held on Sunday 20 August at Royal Ashdown Forest.
The easiest way to apply to play in these and any of our other events is to log onto the website www.oegolf.uk and under the Fixtures heading, select the matches you would like to play in. There is also a pdf document you can download, which lists all the OEGS events and contact details for the match managers.
Annual membership subscription
Thank you to the large number of members who have already renewed their annual membership for the year; however, one or two members have yet to pay the £30 subscription (£5 for those under 30 years old). If you haven't yet renewed, the easiest way is to set up an annual bank standing order, so that you don't have to be reminded each year. To play in any of the OEGS events you need to be a current paid member.
AGM
The OEGS Committee has again decided to hold the AGM via zoom on Monday 22 May 2023 at 6.30pm. We very much hope you will be able to attend the meeting, albeit via a video link.
In due course I will send out via email to all current members, various documents for the AGM, including a proxy form. From a planning point of view, it would help tremendously if you were able to let me know in advance if you hope to attend the meeting on 22 May. In the meantime, if you would like to nominate a member for the OEGS Committee, please let me know by Monday 8 May at the latest.
Finally, it's worth mentioning that over the last year or so we have made good progress on expanding our youth membership, helped I'm sure by the introduction of one or two events aimed specifically at younger OEs. There is obviously a great deal more we can still do to expand our membership, so if you know of any OE golfers or members of the Eastbournian Society, who might be interested in playing on top-class courses, at much reduced rates, please encourage them to contact me for further details.
Meanwhile, I hope to see you at one or two of our events during the year.
Kind regards
David Burt
