On Friday 30 January, the Eastbournian Society welcomed another full house to the latest in a series of our Global Horizons business breakfasts.
These are being staged for the benefit of the local business community and are already proving to be highly successful opportunities for business leaders to meet their peers at the end of a busy week in a relaxed, informal setting. Guests enjoy a delicious light breakfast, with networking opportunities before and after and the centrepiece of each event is a presentation by a speaker on topics of current interest.
This event's guest speaker was Daniel Mahoney, the UK economist for Handelsbanken, one of our region's leading commercial banks. Daniel has an impressive CV, having previously worked with politicians such as Nigel Lawson and Amber Rudd and was head of economic research at the Centre for Policy Studies, a leading Westminster-based think tank.
Daniel gave an insightful analysis of the current UK economy and outlook, supported by slides, which were shared with attendees afterwards. A fruitful Q and A session closed a fascinating morning's proceedings.
