Berlin Dinner Gathering

A wonderful evening and gathering of OEs from across Germany met in Berlin, 18 November for the delightful tastes of local cuisine and tales told of College life, pre-past-and present. 

Brilliantly hosted by Tom Breitzmann (Gonville 1973-75) and Vicky Burford (2 i/c MLF & International Co-Ordinator), who set the tone perfectly for a fantastic evening of conversation, laughter and connection.

A beautiful mix of generations, the evening offered a genuine family vibe. One would expect nothing less from a group of boarders as past Nugent and Gonvillians filled up the tables.

One standout story of the night, kindly shared by Oliver Vahrenholt de Lucena (Gonville 1999-2000). Asked what made you choose Eastbourne College? “We’d been touring a few boarding schools with some mixed first impressions. Upon arriving onto Old Wish Road, looking a little lost as we tried to find the Headmasters office, we were politely greeted and engaged in conversation by pupil, Lloyd Burgess (Powell  1996-2001). Lloyd kindly walked with us to our destination and it was his manner, hospitality and warmth that demonstrated the cultural values we were looking for. The decision to then join Eastbourne was very simple after such a great experience.”

The next gathering is earmarked for a November 2024 date, more on that to be shared. We very much look forward to welcoming as many OEs as possible to attend.
