Our media networking event took place recently, hosted by Ted Young (Blackwater 1974–79). Sixth form pupils had the opportunity to chat with OEs currently in such diverse media areas as broadcast, online and print journalism, backstage technical work and comedy production. Ted spoke of his journey from the College through editing various distinguished newspapers in the UK and abroad and up to one of his current roles on the Press Complaints Commission. He gave his thoughts on how those wishing to start on a career in the media might begin and answered a variety of questions afterwards. This was one of the ES’s programme of networking events held throughout the year which bring together College pupils, OEs and parents; a programme of great benefit to all. And this one in the prestigious Reform Club was greatly appreciated.
