On 19 June, the Eastbournian Society held an informal drinks reception in Nairobi, Kenya, for OEs and OAs, current pupils, friends of the College and prospective parents, based in East Africa. This follows on from our meeting last year at the Muthaiga Club, Nairobi. This year, ten Kenya-based members of the Eastbournian Society gathered at Crafty Chameleon Bar to catch up and exchange stories about the College, past and present.

The group included Vicky Burford, international coordinator, and Olly Torri, director of rugby, both current teachers at the College who had travelled out to Kenya to attend the drinks, represent the College at the Ndume 7s Tournament hosted by Pembroke House School and meet prospective parents interested in the College for their children.

Vicky and Olly were hosted  for two nights by Pete White (himself an alumni of Pembroke House and OE Pennell 1978-82 ) in Gilgil. They then travelled up to Turi where they were given a very comprehensive tour of St Andrew's Prep School by Shela Davis (née Nightingale) (Nugent 1987-99)..

We are delighted to continue to build on the Kenyan network of OEs and we look forward to developing and supporting the East African ES community.

Anyone related to the College, St Andrew’s and East Africa is very welcome to join the WhatsApp Group. Please contact es@eastbourne-college.co.uk and we'll put you in touch.

After another thoroughly enjoyable event in Nairobi, we are very much looking forward to the next one.
