Rebecca runs London Marathon

OE news

Rebecca Hoedemaker (née Macdonald) (Watt 2010-12) is running the London marathon on 27 April. You may recall, as reported in the Old Eastbournian, that Rebecca tragically lost her husband Tristan to a very rare and aggressive form of sarcoma cancer. He was 27-years-old and died just three weeks after falling ill.

Tristan’s last wish was to marry Rebecca, and they were married at St Wilfrid’s Hospice on 8 December 2017. St Wilfrid’s Hospice organised the wedding with less than 48 hours' notice, and it was a day of hope and joy which helped get their family and friends through unimaginable sadness with memories to last forever. St Wilfrid’s also provided counselling and aftercare for Rebecca after Tristan died, just three days after they were married.

Rebecca’s target is to raise around £2000 which would pay for the healthcare Tristan received for the five days he was at the hospice.
