Golf Day auction winning bidders enjoy their prize

One of the auction prizes at this year's Foundation Golf Day in July was a round of golf and lunch, hosted by David Stewart at Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club. The club's 18-hole championship links is regarded as one of the finest in the world.

The winning bidders had a gloriously sunny day when they chose Monday 11 September to head to Deal, a perfect setting for their prize.

Pictured here are, left to right, Lee Simpson, John Field (father of twins who are OEs, one of whom was a Professor Soddy scholar and has just graduated from Imperial), and Alex Wood (Craig 1983-88), who is also the father of two OEs and a current College pupil.

To complete the circle of College connections, David Stewart remembered that he was a house tutor in Craig when Alex was a pupil nearly 40 years ago!

As well as an enjoyable day of golf, by making the winning bid the players had also contributed towards the Peter Bibby Award, which gives bursary funding to a talented local cricketer who might otherwise be unable to attend the College.
