Opening Night

2 Apr 2024
Written by John Thornley

OEs from across the generations (the 1980s and their partners represented in the main photo), along with parents of former pupils and other friends of the College related in some way to the ES community enjoyed this West End show which excited the theatre critics a bit like Marmite excites the experts of good taste. In spite of what Dominic Cavendish in The Telegraph suggested ('Even Sheridan Smith can;'t save this pretentious mess'), the consensus was positive among the ES group once we'd worked out what was happening. Sheridan Smith was certainly amazing, and the audience treated to a splendid afternoon's entertainment.
