Grandparents Morning

Welcoming grandparents to enjoy a tour of the College

Some 50 families were represented at our annual event which invites the grandparents of current pupils to have a tour of the school.

The grandchildren are the tour guides and spent an hour showing their grandparents the College’s superb facilities. Comments from the visitors on their return to the Warren Atrium ranged from the wow factor, to complete amazement at what is available.

We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to be shown around the College by our granddaughter Ebony. A lovely idea to involve us all in this important stage in her life, and to meet many of her friends, teachers, and like-minded grandparents. (Colin and Sheila)

A brief talk from the head and Emma Garrett made for a great way to spend a Saturday morning before the pupils went off to their various College commitments. Emma commented on how encouraging it was that so many of the visitors had been keen to keep in contact with the Eastbournian Society, and we shall certainly look forward to seeing them again at any of our events.

Grandfather of Oliver (Year 9) said:

The day was a wonderful opportunity for grandparents to see the school. My wife and I live far away so it was the first time I had been to the school. I liked the fact that the children were so involved in the day and my grandson showed us around the chapel, the outdoor theatre, classrooms, dining hall and his house. The setting of the school with the playing field in front is a pleasure to see. What a lucky boy my grandson is to have a gym in school, we had nothing like that in my day!

It was very well organised and I got a warrn and friendly feel as I toured the school from those we met. I would not have missed it for the World. Afterwards we watched the end of the cricket match on College Field whilst eating an ice cream from the school cafe.

All in all, I couldn't think of a better way to have spent my Saturday.
