Who would have thought that such a macabre tale involving a dead body could be such fun and, what’s more, become a hit musical?
That’s what some 30 ES member attended recently in the West End’s Fortune Theatre. A small theatre which was full so we were lucky to get seats even if they were at the very top so anyone with vertigo had an even more eventful afternoon.
But we laughed and almost sang along in vaudeville fashion to the romp which told the tale of deploying a dead body to fool the Germans that the allies were landing in Sicily when, in fact, their plan was to land in Sardinia. A true story made into a captivating musical; a delight from beginning to end. And what an amazingly talented cast who were multitasking throughout, portraying several characters almost simultaneously.
