This past weekend, we gathered on College Field to celebrate two remarkable speech days.
The festivities began with St Andrew’s Prep on Friday, followed by the College on Saturday.
The fine summer weather all week was still with us to ensure a safe landing at the end of busy years for both schools. And the vibrant atmosphere reflecting what good heart both schools are in was a fitting way for us to bid goodbye to Philip Broadley (Wargrave 1974–79) who had been a governor for 24 years, and chair of governors since 2017. He leaves with our deepest gratitude.
The celebrations also allowed for the opportunity to launch our Blue Sky Bursaries Appeal, along with a hot-air balloon on College Field. The balloon, a fitting symbol of limitless potential, represents how bursaries empower the young to dream big and soar to new heights.
Eastbourne College and St Andrew’s Prep have embarked on an ambitious fundraising campaign to expand access to school bursaries and positively impact the lives of young people. Contributions to the Blue Sky Bursaries Appeal will be directed towards an endowment fund, ensuring a sustainable commitment to providing quality education for students from diverse backgrounds.
Our goal is to double the number of bursaries offered, covering 100 per cent of all fees, equivalent to supporting 40 fully-funded pupil bursaries. All bursary recipients undergo means-testing, ensuring that financial support reaches those in greatest need.
Pupils, parents and alumni were treated to the premiere of the specially-commissioned inspiring Caffè Sospeso film which showcases the impact of crowdfunding and the transformative power of small, regular donations. For more information on the Appeal and how to give please click here.
